Your first few months

Make the Employee Gateway your home page
Don’t miss any important employee news – be sure to check in at the Gateway site daily.

Verify your information
Now that you’re an active employee, we recommend that you verify your entry in the USC Directory. Just visit the site and search for your own name. We also recommend that you verify that other university systems (Workday, etc.) are listing you correctly as well.

Complete your mandated training
All faculty and all staff who manage others must complete the 2-hour online harassment prevention and Campus SaVE Act training. All non-manager staff are required to review related supplemental materials. You may need to complete other mandated training – ask your manager.

Child abuse training
Some employees, based on their job duties, will complete training specifically aimed at child abuse prevention. All employees are strongly urged to review the material provied on this issue by USC’s Office of Equity and Diversity.

Review the Policy site
All faculty and staff members are required to familiarize themselves with USC policy. One easy way to do that is to visit the policy website, where policies are grouped by subject matter. You can also search for a specific policy using the alphabetical index. Because policies change from time to time, bookmark this website and refer to it often.

Know your resources
USC’s Office of Equity and Diversity investigates complaints by faculty, staff and students who believe themselves to be harmed by sexual harassment or harassment/discrimination related to protected class status.

Your responsibilities as a USC employee
At USC we take our ethical responsibilities seriously. Review USC’s Code of Ethics, and visit the Office of Compliance site for more information.
