Happy Earth Week! Beginning today and culminating on Earth Day this Friday, April 22, USC Earth Week is a time to center sustainability in our lives and engage in sustainability-focused projects and activities.
How to get involved
- Check out the Earth Week page for this week’s events and activities, including the Earth Week Virtual Celebration with President Folt at 12 p.m. this Friday, April 22. The page has everything you will need for an active, successful, and engaging Earth Week.
- Show your support for USC Earth Week by downloading these special Zoom backgrounds (log in with your USC NetID).
- Visit USC’s Sustainability website to learn about USC’s 2028 Sustainability Framework and new visual identity, titled “Assignment: Earth,” and what USC is doing to achieve its sustainability goals to become carbon-neutral by 2025.
Everyone can make an effort to nurture and protect this beautiful planet we call home. From eating organic to correctly using the multi-stream recycling bins located throughout our campuses and the USC Village, there are countless opportunities to incorporate sustainability into your daily life.
The planet is suffering in many ways, and it can be overwhelming – a “Finding Calm in the Storm” virtual event takes place at 12 pm. tomorrow, April 19. However, anything is possible when we all work together. An action such as recycling a plastic bottle might seem small, but that type of behavior adds up over time and can make a lasting impact. Little by little, we can heal the world.
Lean into our Unifying Values of integrity, excellence, and accountability this week and look for how you can make changes in your life to promote sustainability and protect the environment. After all, a healthy planet is not an option – it is a necessity.
