Excessive Heat warning in effect

The City of Los Angeles has issued an excessive heat warning that remains through 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9. High temperatures are expected in all parts of the region. Faculty and staff are encouraged to stay hydrated and when possible, stay indoors or in shaded areas to prevent heat illnesses.

Also, USC has adjusted its HVAC systems to maximize outdoor airflow and increase ventilation which helps mitigate the transmission of COVID-19. This may cause rooms and buildings to feel a bit warmer and stuffy as temperatures rise; however, warmer rooms mean more outdoor air being used for ventilation.

If you have any questions related to heat illness prevention measures, please reach out to EH&S at ehs@usc.edu.
