As part of USC Retirement Administration’s ongoing efforts to improve your experience, USC has launched a faster, more streamlined way for faculty and staff to withdraw funds from their 401(a), 401(k), or 403(b) retirement plans. Starting today, March 3, 2025, most withdrawals will be directly approved by the vendors (Fidelity, TIAA, or Vanguard). Previously, USC processed and approved all withdrawal requests for the 401(a), 401(k), and 403(b).
This new process will ensure a faster processing time of 3-5 business days, improving service for those on the relevant plans. For more information, refer to the In-service distributions page.
USC will continue to process loan approvals, qualified birth or adoption distributions (QBADs), qualified domestic relations orders (QDROs), and distributions for Empower and Corebridge.
Please note that processing time is determined by requests being in good order when they are submitted.
