Dependent Eligibility Verification Project

As shared in the 2025 Open Enrollment message, in order to maintain high-quality benefits for our faculty, staff, and their dependents, and to ensure fairness of the medical costs shared by all, USC is initiating an effort to confirm eligibility for dependents covered on our medical plans.

Faculty and staff with a dependent enrolled in USC health care coverage are required to provide eligibility documentation by Jan. 10, 2025. Instructions on this process and details on eligible documentation were provided through emails and a verification packet to each employee’s home address from Secova, Inc.

To support you, we’ve gathered some tips and guidance – please read the below:

  • If you submit your documentation online, the Secova Verification Station will reflect the latest under the “My Status” tab. Once your documentation has been reviewed and your dependents verified as eligible, your current status will show “Complete.” At that time, a confirmation notice will be emailed and mailed to you to confirm your verification eligibility.
  • If you submit your documentation by mail, Secova will begin processing it once it arrives, so there may be a delay while the mail is in transit. During that transit period, you may receive messages from Secova reminding you to complete your document submission but these will cease once your documents are received and your dependents’ eligibility is verified. You are welcome to call Secova to let them know your documents are on the way.
  • If you receive an email from Secova saying that your submission isn’t complete, for privacy reasons, that message will not include the details of documents that are pending. Please call Secova to determine over the phone what documentation remains needed.
  • If you would like to retrieve and download your worker documents from Workday, please visit Workday Help (@usc.edu login required) for step-by-step instructions.
  • If you have questions, you can find answers quickly in the Secova Verification Station under the “FAQs” tab. If you need assistance, call Secova at 888-541-8145 between 5 a.m. and 8 p.m. (PT), Monday through Friday, or via email at USCA.DMS@secova.com.
