Last Thursday, Oct. 21, staff, faculty, and students across the university participated in the Great California ShakeOut earthquake drill. At 10:21 a.m. a Trojans Alert was sent out advising everyone to drop, cover, and hold on – one of the Seven Steps to Earthquake Safety – as we simulated a 7.1 magnitude earthquake.
Worldwide, the Great ShakeOut has been coordinated since 2007 by the Southern California Earthquake Center. Headquartered at USC, the center is home to scientists and engineers focused on earthquake research.
