USC Hospitality helps feed community seniors

As part of the Mayor’s program to feed seniors, USC Hospitality is providing 8,000 meals per week to 800 home-bound senior citizens in the L.A. area during the COVID-19 pandemic. Each senior citizen who is part of the program receives five meals, twice a week, picked up on Mondays and Thursdays by a local taxi company for delivery to the senior citizens in need. In many cases, these individuals are unable to leave their homes and the meals that USC provides are their only healthy and hot meals.

This program is slated to last 10 weeks, with a possibility of being extended if the need continues. It’s made possible through a partnership with the Hospitality Industry Training and Education Fund, a nonprofit organization and labor-management trust fund. It has also allowed USC to employ 24 Local 11/ UNITE HERE! employees, as well as four supervisors.
